An integral part of how GSC works has always been to ensure that service users have an input into how the services we provide are shaped, through means such as house meetings at our residential projects, advisory and steering groups, service user volunteer meetings, right up to representation at Board of Directors level.
In 2001 our Service User Forum was launched, and we have continued to develop this work further in order to continue to develop service user voice with the organisation, ensuring that their voice is heard in the development of GSC’s services. The Service User Forum feeds directly into the Board of Directors.
The Forum provides information and advice to service users on issues such as the changes to homelessness services in the city, is consulted and involved in the development of new and existing GSC projects, organises social and recreational activities which can help to reduce social isolation and provides opportunities for personal development, volunteering and an improved quality of life.
This year, to mark the opening of our new Head Office in Ballater Street, service users produced a video and a collection of photographs and artwork entitled Reflections of Change.
